 Childrens Obesity!

Obesity is rampant. It has become an epidemic of monstrous proportions so huge that it has spread to our children! We would be remiss if we didn't at least mention this growing problem.

It doesn't matter what the cause is to this life threatening problem, there are many. Look around you and you'll see the results of our lifestyle everywhere. Inactive lifestyle, fast foods, tv, computers, cell phones, and overweight parents are all part of this out of control problem.

We don't pretend to know the answer. In our research we found as many questions as we found answers. We feel that some things remain the same.

We recommend:
  •  Quit eating the barcode! The closer to natural the foods you eat are, the better!
  • Get off your butt! Move, walk, run, just do something*
  • Don't lose weight, lose fat! Fad diets don't work, see your doctor.
Eat right, drink lots of water, exercise, and take high quality supplements will set a great example for our children! A book you may want to read is Overcoming Childhood Obesity.

  Title: Kid Obesity

Author: Robert McClure

Article:
Child obesity has become a serious issue in the world today, and
it is critical to address the causes of childhood obesity so
that the effects can be lessened or even avoided completely.
Studies have shown that child obesity can lead directly to adult
obesity, depending on at what age the child becomes obese.
Steven Galson who is an acting surgeon general in the US termed
child obesity as public health problem that can spread up to
epidemic proportions. It is no surprise therefore that a great
deal of research is being channeled into the problem of kid
obesity in an effort to find both its cause and a cure.

Obesity in children is a predictor of many secondary
cardiovascular diseases and also increases the likelihood of
emotional and social problems in children.

A young person is considered obese if he or she is at a weight
more than 20 percent higher than his or her peers that are the
same age and height are. It has also been reported that the
nation as a whole consisted of 30 percent overweight kids and a
large portion of the rest of them were on their way to
developing weight problems. One non-clinical study revealed that
when parents were included in a weight loss program with
homework and take-home videos that more than half of the parents
changed their eating habits, too.

These children eat a lot of burgers, pizza's and also drink a
lot of sweet drinks and soda pop. This happens to be one major
cause of obesity being affected in them, they are also in the
habit of eating a lot of chocolates that really have a lot of
fat content and which indirectly increase their weight.

The easy way out would be to blame television, fast food
companies, and schools who feed our kids unhealthy food and fail
to provide enough exercise. It's never too late to change
unhealthy habits. And even small weight reductions and lifestyle
changes can make big health differences.

Parents can create healthy environments for their children by
doing regular physical activities, such as biking, swimming, or
walking together. They can make eating enjoyable and healthy by
preparing food together and eating together as a family. Setting
guidelines and educating children on good nutrition through
providing them with nutritious meals and snacks will put them on
the road to making healthy choices. They can make eating
enjoyable and healthy by preparing food together and eating
together as a family.

One of the best diets for children and adults is "Strip That
Fat". Encourage your child to make healthy choices while you
join him/her. It will be fun for them to use the diet generator
and make out their own menus.
